What Is WritingKey™?

WritingKey’s signature writing program is a short, step-by-step video series designed for students diagnosed with learning differences, though it benefits all learners. By breaking writing into manageable chunks, it helps students move from basic five-sentence paragraphs to richer, more complex structures and analysis. Visual aids guide them through each step—from brainstorming to editing—so they’re never overwhelmed by the full assignment.

The program’s concise lessons (fewer than 2.5 total hours) are easy to understand and can be rewatched any time, ensuring full comprehension. Grammar and punctuation cues are built directly into the visuals, giving students a clear roadmap to create polished, powerful writing. Whether facing a short response or a multi-paragraph essay, WritingKey helps students develop a methodical approach that reduces frustration and boosts confidence.

FAQs

How will WritingKey help my student diagnosed with Dyslexia?

WritingKey™ assists students in overcoming this difficulty by creating visual cues that allow them to more easily edit their written work for grammatical errors. Rather than having to rely on internal cues, students can use the visual cues provided by the WritingKey™ process to assist them with proper placement of grammatical punctuation marks.

How will WritingKey help my student diagnosed with ADD/ADHD?

The WritingKey™ lessons are also well-suited for students who struggle with attention difficulties, as they are short and to the point. With the longest lesson being just over ten minutes long, students do not have to sit through unnecessarily long instruction. With longer periods of instruction, their attention inevitably drifts elsewhere, and they miss out on key information about the writing process as a whole.

How will WritingKey help my student diagnosed with Executive Functioning difficulties?

WritingKey™ takes the writing process and breaks it down into short, manageable steps that any student can understand and any student can do. Each short task takes students one step closer to completing the overall writing assignment, an otherwise seemingly impossible task.

How will WritingKey help my student diagnosed with Language Comprehension difficulties?

WritingKey™ is perfect for students who struggle with language comprehension. First, Andrew has extensive experience working with students with this learning profile. The language he uses is clear and easy to understand for any learner. In addition, students will gain lifetime access to the WritingKey™ program, allowing them to watch, and rewatch videos as many times as they need in order to fully comprehend the content. If they have trouble remembering something from a specific video, they can easily navigate to that spot and quickly be able to move forward with their writing.

Does the program cover more than one type of writing?

Yes! The program teaches students how to apply the WritingKey method to various types of writing. Specific types of writing that are covered are:

  • Persuasive writing
  • Expository writing
  • Narrative writing
  • Literary analysis
  • In-class writing

Can my student benefit from the program if he/she has not been diagnosed with a learning difference?

Absolutely! The WritingKey program is not only for students with diagnoses. Oftentimes, students who have a “typical” learning profile still struggle to obtain the skills necessary to write powerfully. Even students who already see writing as a strength can glean valuable information from the WritingKey method.

My student is required to write more than just a paragraph. Does the program cover how to apply the method to essays?

Yes! WritingKey has an entire Milestone devoted to how students can apply the WritingKey method to multiple paragraph writing assignments.

Does the program teach students how to use the method for in-class writing?

WritingKey has videos devoted specifically to writing assignments that are done completely in-class. Since in-class writing samples often create time restrictions, tips are provided as to how they can use the methods they have learned in a timely manner.

Can students watch each video more than once?

With only one purchase, you gain access to all the videos in the WritingKey program. They can be watched as many times as necessary in order to ensure students gain a deep understanding of the content. In fact, it is recommended they watch them multiple times before moving on to new material.
