Mission Statement

We are working toward a world in which every person has the ability to write,

regardless of economic and social opportunity. Many students leave school

without having been taught how to write effectively. This is despite the fact that

writing skills are a significant factor in determining the amount of power people

have over their own destinies. We seek to bring power to all young people,

regardless of the conditions into which they were born. Writing is the key to

empowerment, and we are creating a world where everyone has that power,

one student at a time.

Meet Our Founder

Hi, I'm Andrew, the creator of

WritingKey!

I'm a father of two and the founder of WritingKey. I have both a bachelors and a Masters in Developmental Psychology, and I've spent the last 20 years building a tutoring company in the San Francisco Bay Area, working one-on-one with students.

Over my two decades of experience, I discovered that most young people encounter the same few stumbling-blocks with writing. Over time, I developed and honed a writing method that has worked every time, regardless of age or starting ability-level.

I founded WritingKey so that I could share these techniques with young people across the country and beyond. Writing is the key that unlocks the door to opportunity, and I am determined to help students from every background open those doors.

Andrew Gibson

WritingKey was born when Andrew's own daughter was struggling to write!

If your dad runs a tutoring business, writing should come easy for you, right? Wrong!

WritingKey started because our founder's daughter was sitting at the kitchen table, panicking about an essay! Hear the full origin story here:
